A Trunk Salute
Even though some animals are capable of showing humans their appreciation without a problem, this was the first time they saw anything like this. The locals thought the beasts would just walk away and forget about everything. However, the elephants raised their trunks and made the trumpet sound. It sounded happy to them, and they had never seen the animals do this before. It felt like a salute!
