There was an odd coincidence, however. The day of her death coincided with the day that she was going to sign the divorce papers in order to finalize it. As a result, Karen Carpenter was unable to sign them and they were still legally together at the time of her demise. It’s a good thing she was able to update her will.

The Autopsy
After her passing, the Carpenter parents agreed to an autopsy in order to find out what caused her death. When the procedure was finished, it was revealed that Karen consumed a huge amount of ipecac syrup. It is commonly known for making people vomit.
