In a tragic turn of events, Karen Carpenter succumbed to heart failure on February 1, 1983. It was largely attributed to anorexia. Her passing shocked all of her fans, especially those who were not familiar with the condition. However, it shed a lot of light about eating disorders as well as educated the public about the dangers that come with bulimia and anorexia.
