In a single day, the babies were burning through (or pooping, rather) around 52 diapers! But that’s not all. The babies were consuming about 42 bottles every day too! This was surely going to turn into a costly operation, so the McCaugheys realized that they needed to make a plan.

Volunteers
It was impossible to care for all the babies alone. Usually the family had about seventy volunteers helping them every day with various tasks. This meant that there were about eight or nine volunteers changing diapers, feeding and making sure the septuplets were being cared for on a daily basis.
