Both Steven and Viola did not know anything about the rock except a couple of facts that it was something very unusual and very smelly. That was why they were torn in choosing whether they should bring it with them, or they should just leave it where they found it. Both of the choices were reasonable enough to be selected. They could take it home because it might be something that would bring them tons of money, yet at the same time, they could just leave it there because they did not have any knowledge about it – what if it was dangerous?
