Kahn felt safe at the In-Sync rescue center. He became so powerful that he had to construct a cinder-block staircase for the center workers to enter his shelter. He had more space for creativity and relaxation now. The sensation was diametrically opposed to Kahn’s claustrophobic confinement.

Kahn was desperate for a friend to play with. The fact that Kahn and Sheila have been separated from other lions for so long is concerning because lions are social animals who prefer to live in packs. Kahn and Sheila became friends almost immediately after being placed next to each other. Sheila’s recovery was aided by this friendship. Kahn’s fighting spirit started to rub off on her.
