His brother tried to persuade him to check it out in the ad, and was delighted that “he likes it!” The boy who played Mikey was John Gilchrist and Tommy, his real sibling, acted like his brother. Ironically, there are seven children in that family. In 1974, it became so vast that it bought a Clio Award. In 1999, TV Guide said it was one of history’s top ten commercials. It’s now considered a classic tv commercial.
