His brother tried to persuade him to check it out in the ad, and was delighted that “he likes it!” The boy who played Mikey was John Gilchrist and Tommy, his real sibling, acted like his brother. Ironically, there are seven children in that family. In 1974, it became so vast that it bought a Clio Award. In 1999, TV Guide said it was one of history’s top ten commercials. Born in Tennessee, Ben Curtis began his career by appearing in a lot of famous Dell ads. He was three years older than the desired age when he decides to act in the ad. He could still give a massive impact to casting agents, though, and earned the part. He’s famous now for saying, “Dude, you’re getting a Dell.” It was a massive success for him as well as Dell. After a drug purchase conviction, Curtis left the firm in 2003. Unfortunately, the entertainment industry blacklisted him and only secured minor roles later.
