Blast From The Past: Women From Popular TV Shows & Movies

In a heartbeat, you’ll recognize the names on this list. The following stars have left their mark on Hollywood, long before some of us even knew how to walk. That is how iconic they are. Their breathtaking roles in television and film have proven that they deserve the title of “great”. Actually great doesn’t quite cover it, these women are extraordinary. Aside from their greatness, their roles caused some jaw-dropping moments on-and-off set. Whether it was their character’s attitude or wardrobe, they caused some scandals. Let’s revisit some of Hollywood’s biggest stars who transformed TV and film into the glory we know it to be now.

As far as film and television are concerned, the women in this list have long left their mark, such as Pamela Anderson and her days on Baywatch. Let’s not forget about Farrah Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd from the original Charlie’s Angels television program. Jennifer Grey and Dirty Dancing, anyone? Maureen McCormick from the wholesome family show, The Brady Bunch. Raquel Welch and Sophia Lauren both used their sultry, foreign looks to lure in audiences in any film they were in. Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy, The Vampire Slayer serves as a symbol of a strong female that conquered the world in her own right; Buffy is an inspiration to so many young women. But really, guys, this list could continue to tumble on for ages. Women from all decades, the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and early 00’s, have influenced not just the world of the big-screen but they have influenced entire generations of women – women who have gone on to dominate in whatever they do (art, dance, music, tech, and so on) and all because they looked up to a certain Hollywood female figure.

Currently there has been a huge shift in Hollywood, thanks to movements like MeToo and Time’s Up. These movements have opened the eyes of the injustices women in Hollywood face every day. More and more, the rise of female directors and producers in Hollywood is becoming the norm and it’s about time. Certain strong female celebrities have created their own production agencies, such as Reese Witherspoon, which are geared to serve only women in film and television. A lot of female celebrities are speaking up and are making huge strides to change the way things run behind the scenes. And guys, it’s about time this happened. Now this is just one of the reasons we have decided to celebrate women from decades past. Let’s take a look at the women who influenced film and television, you won’t be surprised by any of the additions here.
