The men noticed Samuel’s car, which was located near Crangan Bay off PCH. They weren’t quite sure if Michael was alive, but now they spotted a vehicle. Michael admitted in a later interview that it would have been unsuccessful to search for a car.

When they finally contacted Tony that they had found Samuel’s car, he was frantically waiting for them. He drove immediately to the location where the vehicle had been spotted. If someone was inside the vehicle, they couldn’t tell, so they had to get closer to be sure. And almost 50 meters from the scene, Michael got out, and Lee stayed in the helicopter above.
