Movie Bloopers That You Definitely Missed

Published on 01/05/2018

Grab a bowl of popcorn, throw on your comfiest sweats, and get a load of these unbelievable movie mistakes. From Saving Private Ryan to Titanic to Back to the Future, no classic Hollywood flick is off the table. Don’t believe us? Click through for all the proof you’ll ever need! But you’ve been warned, some of these bloopers are utterly baffling.

Braveheart

Somehow it feels almost wrong starting with the epic film that is Braveheart. Yes, the same Braveheart which won the Golden Globe Award for Best Director and received ten Academy Award nominations, winning five. So you would think that mistakes such as cars showing up in the background would be avoided. Alas, this is not the case.

Saving Private Ryan

[Immediately taking cover for the hate mail about to drop.] Saving Private Ryan is a critically acclaimed film which won numerous awards for cast and crew, but also the film itself. Let’s get back on point though, picture the scene when Captain Miller gets hurt in battle. In the photo below, Miller is composing himself as he leans up against a motorcycle, but that’s no ordinary ride. It’s the Ural M-63, and it’s a pretty darn authentic model too. What’s the problem? That particular bike wasn’t built until 18 years after the film was set. Still a good film, though.

Django Unchained

Django Unchained follows the tale of Django “Freeman”, played by Jamie Foxx, a slave who gets separated from his wife and is sold off during the 1850’s. Throughout the film, Django maintains a rock-n-roll look, especially with his cool sunglasses. However there’s a problem with his glasses – no “regular” person ever wore these way back then. Unless of course they were prescribed by a doctor for medical purposes. Seriously. On top of it all, Django’s sunglasses were actually inspired by Charles Bronson’s character in the 1977 film The White Buffalo.

Titanic

Eeek, I hate to include Titanic and Leonardo DiCaprio in this list but it just has to be done. Sorry, guys. There is a particular scene in the film when DiCaprio’s character Jack Dawson is talking with Rose, played by Kate Winslet. No, not that scene. We mean the one when he tells her that he would go ice fishing with his father at Lake Wassota – a lake that was formed in 1917 by a man-made dam. The Titanic sank in 1912 so it’s not possible that he went ice fishing at Lake Wassota – unless he’s a time traveler, of course.

The Book of Eli

Denzel Washington has three Golden Globe and two Academy Awards to his name, but even that didn’t prevent him from landing onto our list. Particularly his work in the 2010 film The Book of Eli. All throughout the film, Washington’s character is protecting a certain book but just not any book, it’s the Bible. However it isn’t until the very end that we learn his character is blind and his Bible is in braille. The blooper? Washington’s braille book is far too thin, a standard Bible should have more than 38 volumes, and that’s not what his resembles whatsoever.

The Book Of Eli

The Book Of Eli

Back to the Future

In 1985, we were introduced to the science-fiction comedy film Back to the Future and of course the legendary Michael J. Fox. Which is why it pains us to include them on the list, but hey, it’s gotta be done! There is a particular scene in the first film when Marty McFly is jamming out at his parent’s prom but that guitar of his was only released in 1958. He’s in the year 1955 in the film.

Back To The Future

Back To The Future

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

In particular, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King earned 11 Academy Awards, but even so, they’re still on our list. Below, you can see the mighty Gandalf getting ready for the fight of his life. But there’s one problem: his watch. Such luxuries didn’t exist back then so it looks Gandalf forget to remove his watch before filming the scene. Whoops is an understatement!

The Lord Of The Rings The Return Of The King

The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King

Independence Day

Not even one of the highest-grossing films such as Independence Day could have avoided this list. In particular that one jaw-dropping scene when the Empire Building explodes, like from the inside-out. But here’s the thing, the streets which lead up to the building are not the same, real streets which exist in the very real world. Nope, the Empire State Building is not located straight down a road such as shown in the film.

Independence Day

Pretty Woman

Ahem, watching Julia Roberts and Richard Gere in Pretty Woman holds no comparison to anything else ever done. However we need to point out one error – when Roberts’ is eating breakfast, she’s got a croissant in her hand. In the very next shot, it’s now a pancake. Big mistake. Big. Huge.

Pretty Woman

Pretty Woman

Forrest Gump

Remember that 4th of July, 1976 celebration scene at Forrest’s house with Jenny? Sure you do! Anyways, the fireworks shown on the television are of the Statue of Liberty…but after it was restored. Was it a time jump? Cause the Statue was only restored in 1986.

Forrest Gump

Forrest Gump

American Sniper

Bradley Cooper’s portrayal of the sniper Chris Kyle, was breathtaking, everyone was gripped. But not gripped enough to not have moticed his interaction with the INCREDIBLY FAKE BABY. Apparently the real baby was too sick to appear. We guess this is what improve looks like when gone wrong.

American Sniper

American Sniper

Gladiator

Beyond a shadow of a doubt, Gladiator and Russell Crowe are works of art. Nothing can compare to their brilliance. But even that doesn’t stop them from a spot on our list. During the Coliseum fight scene, there is a chariot which overturns, exposing that underneath is a gas canister which fuels the chariot. Now gas canisters didn’t exist during the Roman Empire but it seems that no one caught the mistake. Yeah, still a brilliant film, though.

Gladiator

Gladiator

The Dark Knight

Our brains have this crazy ability to gloss over mistakes and fill them in correctly. So when you read the newspaper article headline below, you might not notice at first glance that one glaring mistake. The fact that “heist” is spelled incorrectly.

The Dark Knight

The Dark Knight

Dallas Buyers Club

Surely you know that the Dallas Buyers Club went on to earn universal critical acclaim, but even that didn’t prevent them from landing on our list. Set in 1985, we watch Matthew McConaughey’s character in his office but there’s one HUGE problem. The poster on the wall behind Ron Woodroof is that of a 2011 Lamborghini Aventador.

Dallas Buyers Club

Dallas Buyers Club

Reservoir Dogs

Marvin Nash might as well be synonymous with Houdini and here’s why. In this scene, we watch his character getting dragged to a secret hideout with both hands cuffed tightly behind his back. After a beating, we then see that his hands are now tightly cuffed in front of his body.

Reservoir Dogs

Reservoir Dogs

Pirates of the Caribbean

Without a doubt, the entire Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is AMAZING, and that’s putting it lightly. Anyways, we need to mention the first film when Captain Jack Sparrow shouts out, “On deck, you scabrous dogs!” Right away, all of the characters run out of the scene to get to work which leaves one crew member – who is wearing a cowboy hat. [facepalm.]

Pirates

Pirates of the Caribbean

Grease

Just in case you didn’t know, Grease was pretty much ahead of its time and is still referred to by many as one of the greatest films ever made. However we need to mention the scene when the waitress totally misses the light switch as she is walking to the kitchen – but the light still comes on. We told you it was ahead of its time, and in more ways than one it looks like.

Grease

Grease

10 Things I Hate About You

Specifically we are here to talk about the scene when Bianca accidentally shoots her gym teacher with an arrow and the teacher immediately sends a student to get some help. Of course that student sprints off in order to “get help” but then they make the horrible mistake of stopping short of the actual exiting frame. No one caught it and she just assumed she was out of shot. Both couldn’t be more wrong.

10 Things I Hate About You

10 Things I Hate About You

Pulp Fiction

One of the greatest scenes in Pulp Fiction is undoubtedly the ‘English, do you speak it?’ one. However we’re here to focus on one pretty silly mistake in this awesome film. Before the massive shooting war kicks off…the wall is already riddled with bullets but no shot had even taken place.

Pulp Fiction

Pulp Fiction

North by Northwest

Whether you know this or not, we’ll mention that prop guns are incredibly loud. So during the shooting scene at Mount Rushmore, in the background there is a child extra who covers his ear – well before the gun even goes off.

North By Northwest

North By Northwest

Bad Boys

Relax, we don’t mean the one with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, but rather the one with Sean Penn. The blooper in question? There is a pretty important fight scene and all throughout you can see the camera man! Front and center.

Bad Boys

Bad Boys

Matrix

Now in the first Matrix film, there’s an epic fight scene between Neo and Agent Smith. And there’s also one huge mistake during that scene too. There is a shot that shows one particular stone pillar which then gets punched clean through with a bare fist. However when Neo ducks under Smith’s punch, it then reveals that the same stone pillar we just mentioned was already busted through. OH.

Matrix

Matrix

Dirty Dancing

Watching Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing make pretty much everyone weak in the knees. However all of the scenes when Swayze is driving doesn’t make sense to us because the car is always in park – just look at the gear shift.

Dirty Dancing

Dirty Dancing

Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit

Yes, even the handsome Orlando Bloom is on the list! In the original Lord of the Rings trilogy, it is made perfectly clear that Legolas has bright blue eyes. Yet in The Hobbit films, they’re now brown. Which makes no sense as the director for both trilogies didn’t change and neither did the actor.

LOTR

LOTR

Tombstone

Turns out that making fake rain in a scene is much harder than we give credit for. Look at how the rain pools as the camera moves down the street. Typically when the camera is far away, then the set should be more dry. But that’s the case here, we can see that’s where the rain was just dumped in. Yikes.

Tombstone

Tombstone

Raiders of the Lost Ark

Sorry everyone but we do have pick on the great, epic Raiders of the Lost Ark film. Think back to the scene when Marion’s truck explodes and we see Indiana Jones drinking his sorrow away in some bar. Now look at the background, the extras walking around. See the one wearing a white t-shirt and jeans? Yeah, we don’t need to say more now, do we?

Raiders

Raiders of the Lost Arc

She’s All That

Sorry 90’s fans, we had to include She’s All That on our list. Here’s why. There is an early scene which shows Taylor getting heart tattoo. However by the time the pivotal prom scene, it’s no longer there. Did the crew forget that tattoo’s are premanent?

Shes All That

She’s All That

Clueless

Remember Cher’s driving test in Clueless? Yeah, of course you do! See, she runs into another car which destroys her sideview mirror. I mean, the thing flies off! Be that as it may, by the next shot, that same mirror is somehow perfectly attached to her car as it should be. Which makes no sense whatsoever.

Clueless

Clueless

Encino Man

Brendan Fraser and Encino Man make the list! Sadly. Anyways, there is a scene when Fraser’s character Link is driving in one of those driving test cars. Then you watch as Sean Astin’s character Dave runs after him and jumps into the car through the back window. But in the next shot, you can clearly see that Dave isn’t the man behind Link in the car. Huh?

Encino Man

Encino Man

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows

If you have never read or watched anything to do with Harry Potter then there’s no way you know any of this. So allow us to explain something. All throughout the book and film series, Potter is repeatedly told that he has eyes just like his mother’s – a beautiful shade of green. Now in the last film, the actress who plays Lily Potter has not green eyes, but brown. That’s pretty poor, guys!

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows

Grandma’s Boy

Now there is a scene in Grandma’s Boy when a tray of food is put into the oven. Now that’s no big deal but here’s what is. Out of all the items on the tray, we can clearly see a banana. However by the time the tray is removed from the oven, the banana is no longer there. Witchcraft, maybe? Or just another silly mistake? You decide.

Grandmas Boy

Grandma’s Boy

Raiders of the Lost Ark

Unfortunately Raiders of the Lost Ark makes the list once more. This time it’s during that snake scene but it’s not so scary when you can see the snake’s reflection in the glass which is meant to be separating it from Indiana Jones. Whoops.

Raiders Of The Lost Ark

Raiders Of The Lost Ark

Frozen

In all the million, bazillion times you’ve watched Frozen, we’re going to assume you didn’t catch this creepy act. Basically when Elsa is singing the epic song ‘Let It Go’, her hair goes through her shoulder. I repeat, her hair goes through her shoulder. WHAT?

Frozen

Frozen

The X Files

Nope, this is not some spooky alien to appear on The X Files, the error is plain to see. No way is Fox Mulder reading a blank newspaper…oh wait. That’s exactly what he’s doing.

The X Files

The Lord of the Rings

Now let me make something clear, if I could clean as fast as this photo shows, I would never complain about having to clean ever again. However, I don’t think that’s how it works.

The Lord Of The Rings

The Lord Of The Rings

Ocean’s Eleven

Welcome to the club, Brad Pitt. Even A-list movie stars can’t remember if they’re holding a glass or plate for the same scene. That’s not their job…or is it?

Oceans Eleven

Oceans Eleven

Terminator 2

Welp, not even the Terminator can escape our list! In this case though, you should be more careful, his head can’t split before a shot even takes place. That’s just amateur.

Terminator 2

Terminator 2

Batman Returns

We’ve already said that making a movie is a hard task, all the long hours and whatnot. However you’d think the makeup team would remember to apply the same amount of heavy, dark eye makeup FOR THE SAME SCENE. Right? Right.

Batman Returns

Batman Returns

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective

Do I really need to point out that Ace Ventura: Pet Detective is a HILARIOUS movie and Jim Carrey is the Kind of comedy? Yeah, I didn’t think so. Although in this case, the bubble wrap blooper comes off as a teeny tiny mistake but it’s the little things that count, people.

Ace Ventura Pet Detective

Ace Ventura Pet Detective

American Pie

Granted American Pie is a hilarious movie but the mistake isn’t all that funny, it’s actually embarrassing. For the mere reason that it could have been avoided in the blink of an eye. Just take a look at the photo below, we have no words here.

American Pie

American Pie

Titanic

Well if Leonardo DiCaprio can make a mistake in Titanic then so can Kate Winslet. However in this case, Kate’s mistake and the makeup team’s mistake is something born from nightmares. How is that possible? Well, a mole doesn’t just up and move to another location!!

Titanic

Titanic

Pirates of the Caribbean

We’ll let the image below do all the talking but what we will say is this – while Elizabeth is drowning, the medallion floats in the water for all to see. However immediately after her rescue, the medallion is securely inside her corset so no one can see. Now I’m no doctor but I’m pretty sure a drowning person isn’t going to take the time to secure a medallion, even from pirates.

Pirates Of The Caribbean

Pirates Of The Caribbean

Shawshank Redemption

Sorry everyone but even the brilliant, award winning Shawshank Redemption is on the list. In this case, either his character has Superman slash Flash speed or a bad case of OCD, cause there’s no way those bullets went from scattered to neat in such a short amount of time. We are talking about mere seconds here, folks.

Shawshank Redemption

Shawshank Redemption

Home Alone 3

In the third Home Alone film, there is a scene when the kid opens up the closet door and it shows nothing out of the ordinary. However in the very next shot, there is a black bar randomly on the closet floor. Hmm.

Home Alone 3

Home Alone 3

The Wizard of Oz

There is no need to panic! Yes, the classic and wonderful film that is The Wizard of Oz is on our list but hey, stuff happens. Although seeing as how Dorothy’s hair changes length in just a couple shots then it’s hard to just brush it off as a simple mistake.

The Wizard Of Oz

The Wizard Of Oz

Twilight

Edward Cullen and Twilight are up next and for such a simple, simple mistake too. If you look in the top image, you see that Cullen’s button is all undone. However in the bottom image, which is still the same shot, it’s properly done up. Told you it was a simple mistake.

Twilight

Twilight

300: Rise of an Empire

Seriously? The brutal, kick-a$$ 300: Rise of an Empire is on our list because of an APPLE?! In short, yes. If you’re eating a red apple for the same scene then keep it that way, you can’t just switch to a green one on the sly.

300 Rise Of An Empire

300 Rise Of An Empire

Lord of the Rings

Ahem, the blame is equally on Frodo and the makeup team! Why? Let me break it down for you – a scar doesn’t just magically move in the same scene!! Clear enough, yet? That’s what we thought.

Lord Of The Rings

Lord Of The Rings

Twilight

Calling all Twilight lovers…again. This is one of those mistakes that you just think, wait what, how’d that happen? The blooper in question is the boom mike which is reflected in the truck window. Smooth.

Star Trek

Do you believe in magic? Cause that’s what the appearing, disappearing, reappearing insignia on his jacket seems like to me. No? Not magic? Just another movie mistake, ~sigh.~

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Once again, ladies and gents, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows makes the cut. Although in this case as the actors were all running for their lives in the midst of chaos, I guess we can let it slide? Just a wee bit.
