In this modern generation, with the development of technology and various lockdowns as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have become increasingly unsociable. Unsociable to the point that hanging out on Facetime with a friend actually counts as hanging out these days! Oh, you hung out with your friends last night? “Yeah, we played Call of Duty on Xbox”. It is a shame that this is what it has come to! Fortunately, we are from a different generation and are feeling nostalgic. There were some great activities that we used to love, that we are sure you will still love if you were to give them a try (again!). Take a look at the list below and see if any are worth your while, we certainly believe they will be!
Camping
Camping! Doesn’t this sound great in theory? Well, go out and do it! Sure you might need to wait for some good weather, but nowadays there are great camping spots near every location. You can find a place with a great view, peace and quiet and simply hang out! You can bring board games, you can bring a gas cooker and make food, have a campfire and make s’mores. We’re sure there’s at least one of you that can play the guitar, but if not, use a speaker! Blast the tunes, hang out, perhaps have a glass of wine or a beer and let loose! The wilderness is where you can truly relax and chill with those closest to you.
Bowling
So this one is a little less extreme, but certainly a lot of fun! 10-pin bowling is a classic that I bet many of you haven’t done for many years. All you need to do is head down to your local bowling alley and the fun will commence! Show off your skills by out-bowling your friends. Enjoy that feeling of getting a strike, even a spare; just make sure you don’t get a gutter-ball! Also, most bowling alleys have bar-type commodities. That means while you’re having fun bowling you can eat pizza, chips, fries and drink a beer! Sounds good right? Get down to your bowling alley!
Mini Golf
Like the idea of golfing, but can’t be bothered with the hassle of moving around a massive golf course, or the slow nature of the game? Then trust us, mini-golf is for you! Imagine the fun of playing golf, but only moving 10 yards at a time! Also, the course can be even more interesting as a result of some of the obstacles you will endure. You might need to chip a ball over a blockage, aim perfectly into a tiny hole or bounce the ball of multiple sides to reach your end goal! Also at the end there is often a mini-game to win a prize (an impressive way to ensure that you return your golf ball). Not only is this fun, but you can also have snacks and fun with your buddies! Show them that you are chief putter.
Drive-In Movie Theater
A drive-in movie theater is the embodiment of old-fashioned weekend pleasure, from old-school swings in front of the screen to retro refreshments to the warm ambiance of your car. Don’t feel bad about chatting through the film, nobody else can even hear you! Sit in the comfort of your car, eat your popcorn, control the volume of the film and sit and enjoy! The drive-in is a unique experience that takes regular movie-viewing to a different level.
Laser Tag
When was the last time you went and played laser-tag? Laser-tag is a super-fun, competitive shooting game that is actually extremely safe! Teams run around a course shooting members of the other side with lasers and the players with the most points are victorious! Simple, right? There are different types of games: Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, among others. Laser tag can be great for bachelor parties, kids’ birthdays or simply to do something different on your weekend! Usually they are situated in malls, so after you can go grab a bite and discuss who was the top marksman of the game!
Perhaps for some of you these activities don’t seem so old-school, but really, when was the last time you did any of them?
