Crocodile Dundee

When Crocodile Dundee came out in 1986, it became an instant hit all around the world! Were you aware that the original film received an Oscar nomination in addition to having won a Golden Globe? What made the movie so amazing? Was it Linda Kozlowski playing Sue Charlton or Paul Hogan as the crocodile hunter from Australia? We don’t know for sure. What we do know is that this movie was quite the sensation, which is why it was made into a series.

Do you know it’s been more than 30 years since the film Crocodile Dundee was first released? That’s pretty wild! Ever since then, it has become the most iconic film that has come out of Australia. Needless to say, Paul Hogan’s status rose to super-human in the country and he has become Australia’s cultural ambassador, of some sort, to the world. Crocodile Dundee and its sequels’ impact on the world is still felt and seen up to this day.

During the time the first movie of the Crocodile Dundee series was released, it made roughly $328 million. However, if you take inflation into consideration, you can come out with approximately $722 million! That’s insane! No wonder the movie turned into the most successful imported film in the history of the American box office. Not too shabby.

Seriously, after the release of Crocodile Dundee, the world appeared to have become obsessed with the country Australia! Needless to say, Paul Hogan and Linda Kozlowski’s smash hit movie had a great deal to do with the cultural fad. During the time they were still thinking about filming Crocodile Dundee, they decided on a budget of $10 million to help launch a movie they hoped would see overseas success. It was Paul Hogan who apparently thought up the concept – a tale about an Australian who is quite outdoorsy and who visits New York. Hogan has admitted that someone actually inspired the main character Michael J. Dundee. Also, Crocodile Dundee filmmakers said that they never gave Ansell, the real life Dundee, any payment. It appears that Paramount Pictures even threatened the man that they will sue him if he continued to run around his farm and property what he called “The Real Crocodile Dundee Adventure Tour”. Ouch!

Anyway, it’s high time we catch up with the stars of all the Crocodile Dundee films. It has been a long time since the first movie, and even the sequels. You most likely never learned of what happened to the films’ stars. Luckily, we have made a list of the wonderful actors and actresses that became part of the franchise.
